I have never tried any Revlon products before and if you read my ‘5 foundations that are worth your money’ post, I mentioned that I really wanted to to try the Revlon Colorstay Foundation because I’d heard such good things about it, turns out I caved in and bought it a couple of days later haha! Whilst browsing through the Revlon collection and in Superdrug they had a buy one get the 2nd half price offer so I obviously had to buy another product.
I was going to go for a concealer or powder but I do have a little soft spot for my lipsticks so I purchased one, I honestly think I have a problem. I buy matte lipsticks regularly its a bit mad. I rarely, infact, never buy lipgloss or metallic or anything like that its always always matte. I got a but put off lipgloss because I used to absolutely cake it on when I was a teen, I know what your thinking, why didn’t my mates tell me to reign it in? its because they were the exact same, we all loved walking around with greasy slimey lips and it just put me off, too much of a good thing I guess.
Anyway, I did pick up a matte lip, because I love a matte lip like I just stated but this is a metallic matte in shade ‘HD Gleam‘ it has the velvety feel of a matte which I love because it has better staying power but it does have the look of a metallic, this is the first metallic lip product I’ve owned – I had a fear of shine okay! I absolutely love it though, it smells amazing which isn’t too important but I’ve been put off by lipsticks before due to it smelling like paint eurgh. I love the frosted glass packaging too but most importantly the lip colour itself is so so beautiful, I honestly think all skin tones could get away with this and it will look gorgeous in spring/summer especially! It’s a gorgeous pink with some little flecks of champagne gold almost it is honestly super stunning!
Now onto the foundation, they have two formulas which I think is amazing they do oil/combination or normal/dry I picked up the shade fresh biege in the normal/dry formula. The shade fresh biege first of all is perfect with my fake tan, the formula is gorgeous its amazing coverage and it blends beautifully, it does dry quicker than the likes of bourjois healthy mix which is more of a gel like formula but it still blends seamlessly and it dries flawlessly the thing I find with having dry skin is if a foundation doesn’t dry my skin out it usually means its super liquidy and stays tacky all day but this one doesn’t. It doesn’t leave your skin tacky in the slightest it and considering its really good coverage it is super lightweight I would say to be aware if you have more mature skin to maybe use a primer before hand because it does sit ever so lightly into fine lines, its barely noticeable unless your really up close so its not enough for it to be an issue. I personally love the finish of this foundation and it really does last better than almost all of the high street foundations I’ve tried previously.
I am super impressed by Revlon and I have a whole list of products I want to try now. Foundations and lipsticks are my favourite to buy and because they were two successful purchases I do want to find some more gems by Revlon. Have you tried any products from Revlon? What would you recommend?
