I’m back again! My last post was exactly a month ago! I recently had a bit of a ‘digital detox’ How millennial of me a ‘Digital Detox’ basically I lived in the real world for the past month or so ya know, actually living. I basically thought I’d do a little catch-up post and tell you what’s been happening.
On my little ‘digital detox’ I’ve read more, walked more and been a little more social. I have been loving a couple of book, one is called The Inner Beauty Bible by Lauren Simmons I’ve read it before a couple of years ago but I have started reading it again in bed before I go to sleep which really chills me out and helps me drift off to sleep easier. I also read a book by Emma Lucy Knowles called The Power of Crystal Healing and I have loved that as well, I first heard of Emma through Estee Lalonde’s podcast about Reiki Healing. Emma works with crystals and all things spiritual honestly she is a jack of all trades, master of ALL! She is a psychic, a clairvoyant, a healer and an author – just to name a few, her book struck a love of crystals again for me.
My nan was super spiritual, I remember my first year of school I must have been around 4-5 years old, I was super nervous to start class (the teacher was strict haha) my nan gave me a little pink polished stone to help me feel at ease it was, of course, a Rose Quartz which I kept in my Barbie lunch box and I wish I still had this stone but I do have a jar of all her own crystals after she passed. From the age of five I just got obsessed with rocks, maybe because of my nans crystal collection which I thought were rocks, either way, I loved them, so much in fact that when I went to the beach once I brought home a brick adamant that it was a unique giant rock, oh well! I still loved crystals and once my nan taught me they were in fact crystals and they had different names and benefits, I was hooked. My love of crystals faded as a teen, not for any reason but after my nan passed and I had a rough year in 2014 I slowly got back into crystals, I have spent the last few years learning about them and researching and just generally having an interest about their benefits. Crystals are considered quite ‘trendy’ at the moment but they have been around wayyyyy before any of us!
I remember when I went away to Greece and other than the beautiful scenery, something I’ll never forget, is how family orientated they were and how strong their beliefs were. I learnt all about crystals, Greek mythology, Greek gods and all about the evil eye charm and why it was hanging everywhere! It made me think of home and how so many have barely any belief at all, and it was back then I thought more and more about where I stood when it came to beliefs. As a child, I was christened, so I’m technically a Christian, I was christened at a Spiritualist church which was requested by my nan because she was super spiritual and I think I’m definitely more spiritual than I am religious and a big believer in fate and karma which I inherited from my nan too. I have made such a huge effort since having my little digital detox to really understand and to try it out for myself and to just be present a lot more.
I know crystals aren’t everybody’s cup of tea and they seem a little bit hippy and slightly witchy but if you really think about it, without getting too deep. Our bodies are essentially made up from all different elements, Crystals have similar elements and energy to our bodies so when we align them with ours the energy works in harmony together making us feel better. I know some people think its bullshit because they don’t cure diseases but they aren’t necessarily a medicine, if you had a serious disease would paracetamol work? no, you would need something stronger but that doesn’t mean paracetamol tablets are bullshit, they just don’t work with a serious health condition. Crystals have helped my mental well-being a lot and I feel super confident with saying that, they are great for meditation and just for that little bit of protectiveness, I’ve always been someone to have a little lucky token to take with me for ‘good luck’.
So crystals are my guilty pleasure, my other guilty pleasure which I have never spoken about is – the moon! Another one that more people seem to be jumping on board with, I have seen so many people talking about full moons, new moons and planets in retrograde. I read a book by Yasmin Boland called ‘Moonology’ and I really enjoyed it, I have always had some weird thing with the moon, ever since I was a child and around last year I really got into astrology and zodiac signs and whilst looking up my star sign which is cancer I found out that people under the cancer zodiac sign are also called moonchildren or are a moonchild which I found so strange but it made so much sense and I am a ‘Moonchild’ to a T! Another thing which just makes sense to me is the fact that over half of our bodies are made up of water and think about it what does the moon control? THE TIDE! that’s water it just makes sense to me. People charge their crystals in the moonlight which I found so bizarre at first but thinking about it the moon does give off huge amounts of energy if it changes the tides?
wow, that was a bit of a ramble! Basically, these are my two current obsessions and lately I’ve been looking after number 1, opening my mind to new things and have just enjoyed being in fresh air looking at the world instead of my screen! I may introduce a little more crystal love to my blog, let me know what you think?
