I have seen the quote ‘I left my heart in Paris’ soooo many times on prints, t-shirts etc and although it’s a little cheesy, it’s actually a quote I can really relate too. I am and always have been obsessed with Paris. I was in love with the city wayyy before I even stepped foot in Paris.
Ever since I was young I had wanted to go, I wanted to visit Disneyland obviously and with films like Hunchback of Notre Dame and Aristocats, I just adored the French accents and personas how graceful and was Dutchess from Aristocats?!
I would envision what it would be like to walk the Parisian streets, take in the beautiful scenery and devour all the delicious food. Paris and the French language was the inspiration behind my blog, so I had to go.
In late September 2014, my boyfriend and I became ‘official’, 6 months later for my 22nd birthday, he made my dream come true and took me to Paris! I was so excited and slightly apprehensive, what if I had built it up in my head so much? My boyfriend had spent a fortune on my dream and what if I didn’t even like it?
I had high hopes that my expectations would be met when I arrived in Paris.
I arrived at the airport and took a Taxi to ‘Tour Eiffel’ which made me get weird and giggly just saying it. We actually woke up on our first ‘proper’ day on my actual birthday. I was so happy. We did the typical tourist thing a straight away and jumped on the open top bus tours and headed to all the landmarks. I was so surprised by how insanely beautiful Notre Dame and Arc De Triumph was in real life! Champs Elysees was my absolute favourite it is such a clean gorgeous elegant city and it exceeded my expectations and I was so happy.
I don’t think you can get a prettier, more elegant city than Paris. Champs Elysees is just beautiful, Arc de Triumph, Notre Dame it all screams historic elegance.
One of my favourite memories from my birthday in Paris has to be having a 3-course meal on a boat sailing across the River Seine. The food was gorgeous and the views were incredible. I would totally recommend doing that if you go to Paris.
The night just kept getting better. My boyfriend bought a white and a red rose on the way back to the hotel and I was honestly on cloud nine. We got back to the hotel and my boyfriend disappeared for a few minutes, knocked on our hotel room door with champagne and goodies, which made me even happier! We drank some champagne and headed out to see the Eifell Tower at night, it was so stunning just as we walked underneath the lights came on and made it sparkle. The timing was impeccable. Laying under the stars and the Eiffel tower honestly felt so magical.
Ever since I visited in 2015, I have wanted to go back ever since. This city really felt like home. I felt so happy and content and I cannot wait to revisit. I often reminisce my trip to Paris and I really wish I was back eating macaroons from Angelinas, walking down Champs Elysees browsing the makeup in Sephora and having picnics under the Eiffel Tower, It really was a magical time, my relationship was pretty new and fresh and I was in the dreamiest city and I really want to relive that now. I am hoping to go back for our anniversary in the future, that would be amazing to go back on a special occasion like that because I’ve missed Paris.
Where is one place when you visited that exceeded your expectations? Have you ever been to Paris? I really wanted to reminisce because I miss it SO badly!
